Happy Week 9 everyone! It's almost the end of the month!
For this week's general meeting we had one of our most respected faculty members, Dr. Lori Barker, come in to give us a presentation about the fields of Psychology and careers you can pursue in Psychology as well! This presentation is actually one of our most famous and anticipated presentations, since it helps our Psi Chi members figure out their emphasis and what they eventually want to do! We hope this presentation was informative, and we want to thank everyone who was able to attend! We encourage to continue to come to our meetings to hear from respected guest speakers, and to also engage in fun activities with your fellow Psi Chi members! If you ever have any questions, please don't be afraid to reach out to us whether it's online or in person! We are here to help you! Hope ya'll continue to hang in there, and good luck with your studies.

Happy Week 8 everyone! For this week's meeting we had a very special guest speaker that came in, which was Dr. Eleonora Rossi! This is actually her last year at Cal Poly Pomona, so it was an honor for her to come in and give a presentation to the students.
Her presentation was about psycholinguistics, specifically about bilingualism and second language acquisition! She had a little introduction about herself, and then she proceeded to discuss her area of research. Dr. Rossi actually prepared a powerpoint, so if you would love to see what she presented about, please let us know! Again, we would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Rossi for coming out and giving Psi Chi the opportunity to learn more about Psycholinguistics! Hello again everyone! We hope that ya'll are having a great start of the week so far.
For this week's meeting, we had another guest speaker! Dr. Morales' colleague, Dr. Alison Cerezo, a Counseling Psychologist from the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara, came into talk a little about herself, and what she's currently doing in the field of psychology! Her area of research is about eliminating social and health disparities. A little bit about herself is that she is from Pico Rivera, and has two brothers! She completed a research master's program at UCLA, and she studied ethnic identity. She realized that she had a passion to write and serve her community. She eventually got admitted to the University of Oregon, and went into counseling psychology. She was there for 5 years, and went on to complete an internship at UC San Diego! Some recommendations she had to our Psi Chi members that do not know what they want to do with a Psychology bachelor's, was to not stress too much, focus on productivity, and continue to do good work. She also recommended that if you want to get your Masters, that it's better to look into Cal States, and if you want to get your Doctorates, it's better to look into UC's. Dr. Alison Cerezo, definitely gave an interesting and engaging talk to our Psi Chi members! We appreciate and are thankful for her efforts to come to our meeting to personally give us some insight. Thank you so much Dr. Alison Cerezo! Thank you again to our members who came out this week. We hope to see ya'll next week! Hello everyone! We hope that studying is going well for all of you. Remember to take frequent breaks and take it easy on yourself! For this week's meeting, we did a fun activity because we know that all of you are pretty stressed out. The fun activity was KAHOOT! It was nice to just sit down and relax with all the members. To make it a little bit more fun, we added in some questions that aren't related to psychology, but about some of our E-Board members! We all had a good time, and we hope that we can do this again sometime in the future! Have a great rest of the week! Below are just some pictures from the meeting. |
