Dr. Alejandro Morales - Advisor
Dr. Alejandro Morales is an associate professor of Psychology. He conducts qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods studies in understanding the psycho-social-cultural mechanisms of adjustment in Latino immigrant families with children who serve as translators and interpreters (i.e., language brokers). His research also focuses on identifying the processes that facilitate the psychological wellbeing of Latino gay men. He teaches courses on abnormal psychology, basic counseling skills, intimate relationships, human sexuality, and couple's therapy. He received his PhD and MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and his BA in Psychology from the California State University, Dominguez Hills. When not teaching, meeting with students to talk about research and graduate school, Dr. Morales enjoys watching documentaries. He is a fan of Harry Potter, butterflies, and any fantasy creature. Year: 4th year Psychology major Duties: As the President, I oversee the club along with my amazing E-board members. I also lead our weekly meetings, act as a liaison between the club members and department, and ensure that members feel valued and connected to the organization. Career Aspirations: Industrial/organizational psychology (e.g., women in leadership, diversity and inclusion). Psychology Interests: Researcher, consultant, and professor Fun facts: I'm the biggest Sailor Moon fan, I love fashion, traveling, and koalas. |
Daniela Navarro - Vice-President
Year: 4th year Psychology major Duties: As Vice President, my job is to assist the President in club needs, facilitate club meetings, and help other E-board members fulfill their duties. Career Aspirations: I hope to attend a Ph.D program in counseling psychology and hopefully become a professor and have my own practice later on. Psychology Interests: Latinx mental health, psychology of immigration, acculturation, and resilience. Fun facts: I love Bad Bunny and matcha lattes. |
Nicole Ibarra - Treasurer
Year: 4th year Psychology major Duties: My job as treasurer is to work with the president and the VP of the club to make sure we have all the funding we need to support our club members with club activities and funding for WPA. Career Aspirations: Get a PsyD in clinical psychology as well as work as an educator. Psychology Interests: Clinical psychology and developmental psychology Fun facts: I love to travel and spend my free time at Disneyland. |
Naela Salamah - Secretary
Year: 4th Year Psychology major Duties: I'm this years secretary/schedular and my job consists of keeping track of membership points and sign-in sheets, maintaining E-board meeting minutes, and writing + sending out the weekly Psi Chi emails. Career Aspirations: Going to grad school (hopefully a Ph.D program). Psychology Interests: Multicultural psychology, counseling, mental health psychology Fun facts: I'm currently working with Dr. Barker and Dr. Autry in their research labs, I'm a TA for two professors, and I work as a youth mentor on the weekends. I like to read, swim, hike, and do artsy things like painting and bullet journaling. Chloe Nguyen - Public Relations
Year: 4th year Psychology Major Duties: As your public relations chair/historian, I'm in charge of advertising Psi Chi events such as socials, general meetings, and panels. I design the posts that go out on our social media handles as well as flyers for our general meetings. I love this position because it allows my creativity to shine. Career Aspirations: Clinical psychology, health psychology, developmental psychology Psychology Interests: Clinical psychology, child psychology, health psychology Fun facts: I love going to Disneyland, I make mood boards/collage boards in my free time, and I love to binge watch movies/TV shows. Omari Cunningham - C.L.A.S.S. Council Representative
Year: 2nd year transfer student Duties: As C.L.A.S.S. Representative, I'm responsible for relaying and inquiring information from the C.L.A.S.S. department to Psi Chi E-board. I find out about changes to budgets, event schedules, and pretty much act as a liaison for Psi Chi and other clubs interested in collaborating with Psi Chi. Career Aspirations: I hope to pursue a Ph.D in clinical psychology in the near future. Psychology Interests: Clinical psychology Fun facts: I like to hike, longboard, and read in my free time. I'm also a level 2 Muy Thai kick boxer. |
Brandon Winata - Social Chair
Year: 4th Year Psychology Major Duties: As your conference/social chair, I'm in charge of planning Psi Chi's social events and keeping everyone informed about WPA or any psychology conferences. Career Aspirations: I'm looking to pursue my masters once I graduate and get a Ph.D down the line. I hope to become a child psychologist as my future career. Psychology Interests: Child psychology Fun facts: I'm always down to go out to eat, I'm most likely with my lovely girlfriend, and I love sharing my knowledge and experiences as well as lending a hand or ear to anyone that needs it.
