Hello everyone and welcome back! Thank you to those who attended our very first meeting of the academic year. It was so nice to see both old and new faces! For those who missed the meeting, no worries i'll give you a recap of what went on in today's meeting.
To start off the meeting, the Executive board gave an introductory powerpoint of what Psi Chi is and what you can gain out of joining the club. Some opportunities you can receive is to be able to network, to lead, and to learn! You'll be able to hear faculty come in and talk, learn more about research experience, understand careers in psychology, and we even have graduate school prep! Our club also includes a variety of cool events like fundraisers, socials, conferences, volunteering events, and we even have an induction banquet at the end of the year for International Psi Chi members. If you are interested in joining the club as a member, chapter membership is $20 a semester or $35 the whole academic year. You can come to any one of the e-board members to pay your membership fee. If you would like to be an International Psi Chi member, please apply through Psi Chi International Honor Society. After, Dr. Morales will be able to approve you and you'll get the chance to be inducted during our ceremony at the end of the year. We also talked a bit about WPA, which is a conference where you can learn about current research, attend poster talks, sessions, and workshops. This year WPA is being held in Pasadena, CA from April 25th to 28th so we hope that more of our members can attend this year. Also, we have four OPEN e-board positions that we are hoping can be filled up. They are the following: Social Chair, Conference Chair, C.L.A.S.S. Council Representative, and Community Service chair. If you are interested in ANY of these position please let one of the e-board members know, or contact us on any of the social media platforms. Finally, at the very end of our meeting, Dr. Blumenfeld came in to talk about a Brain Awareness Week event and was looking for about 10-15 volunteers to help him with this event. Meetings are every other Fridays from 1-3pm. If you do have more questions about this please contact him by his email @[email protected]. To communicate with one another more efficiently we use a Group Instant messenger app called "GroupMe." This app is free to download and if you're interested in being added to the group please email and give us your 1)Name 2)Email 3)Phone number to [email protected] Thank you everyone! Hope to see you at our next meeting (:
