First Psi Chi meeting of Fall Quarter 2017!

Hi everyone! Thanks to those who attended our first meeting today and for those who missed it, here are a few updates about what we went over.

The executive board members for Psi Chi 2017-2018 were introduced and emphasized the importance of utilizing us as a resource for any questions you may have. We do have an open position for the Fundraising Chair this year that we would like to fill in and elections will begin next Tuesday (October 3, 2017) during the next meeting at U-hour in building 5 room 105. If you would like to be a part of the executive board, please prepare a 1-3 minute speech if you're interested in running! If you would like to join the club as a member and participate in any events we are hosting this year, please pay dues at any of the weekly meetings when possible. Dues are $15 per quarter or $35 for the whole year.
If you would like to be an international member, please apply through: Psi Chi International Honor Society and let the Psi Chi president, Sergio, know so we can approve you. This is a one $55 fee for lifetime membership. 

Peer mentors is a year-long program for those who are majoring in psychology or sociology and is wonderful for leadership experience. For those who are interested in applying to be a peer mentor, there is a link provided at the bottom of this post.

We also briefly discussed the location for next year's WPA (Western Psychological Association) conference that will take place in Portland, Oregon. This is a wonderful conference to see how research is done and gain research experience.

For those who are specifically interested in research and would like to apply for undergraduate research programs, the McNair Scholars Program and SCCUR (Southern California Conferences for Undergraduate Research) are a great opportunity to further your knowledge and experience.
